Wildcats,

I wanted to quickly introduce myself and let you know information about where we are heading as the official start of the 2021 football season begins on Monday. 

First, my name is Coach Stroud and I am excited to be the head football coach at East Chapel Hill High School! I am originally from Durham and graduated from Northern High School. I played football at both Riverside and Northern High School. I was part of NHS’s team that won the state championship in 2013. After high school I played defensive back at Montgomery College in Maryland where I was awarded All-American. Then, I was recruited with a full scholarship to play defensive back for Charleston-Southern University. Later, I moved into playing running back. After graduating from college, I eventually moved back home to Durham and have lived here ever since. I have a wife, Jaime, and 5 kids: LJ (18), Mya (14), Chase (14), Mason (11), and Ashton (1). In addition to coaching football, I am also a teacher and my wife and I also own our own tutoring and mentoring company.

I have been coaching high school football for 17 years, starting way back in 2004 when I was an assistant coach at ECHHS. Since then I’ve coached at schools in Durham, Chapel Hill. Raleigh, and Orange County. I love building up programs and helping them to be successful. I recently helped lead Riverside High School to win their 2nd conference championship in the school’s history and first back to back playoff seasons in 14 years. Before that I helped to rebuild Jordan High School’s football program, resulting in the school having the #1 defense in conference and 6 All-Conference selections. I also helped lead Southern Durham to win the state championship in 2013.

We will start and end on time each day.
